CT24-07 Night Nairobi/Samburu/Sweetwaters/Masai Marai

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transfer to the hotel.

Overnight at Eka Hotel on BB.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel lobby and transfer to Wilson airport for your flight to Samburu Game Reserve.  On arrival at the airstrip you will be met by the lodge vehicle and transfer to the lodge with a game drive en route. Afternoon game drive.

The Samburu National Reserve is a game reserve on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro river in Kenya. On the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. The Reserve was one of the two areas in which conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness, made famous in the best-selling book and award-winning movie Born Free. The reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the beisa oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five).

All meals and overnight at Samburu Intrepids Camp.

0630 hrs, pick up for early morning game drive returning to the lodge later for breakfast.  After breakfast time to relax followed by lunch. Pick up at 1600 hrs for afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge later in the evening. The reserve is also home to elephants and large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah. Wild dog sightings are also a common attraction to this unique protected area. Birdlife is abundant with over 450 species recorded.

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for flight to Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary. Meet on arrival at the airstrip by the camp vehicle and transfer to the camp. Afternoon game drive.  The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 360 km² not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Central Kenya’s Laikipia County. Situated on the equator west of Nanyuki, between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. The Conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and in 2013 reached a population milestone of 100 black rhino. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is situated here, and provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned and rescued chimpanzees. It is the only place in Kenya where these great apes can be seen. The Conservancy is host to the “Big five game” among a large selection of other African animals, which makes it a popular safari destination.

Full day spend at Sweetwaters with morning and afternoon game drives. In fact Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya. In addition to the chimps and the black rhinos, you will have a chance to view an amazing variety of wildlife such as zebra, lion, leopard, thomson’s gazelle, grant’s gazelle, oryx, eland, baboon, elephant and various species of birds.  It has a waterhole that is floodlit by night thereby providing an exotic game viewing experience.Some activities that can be done include game walks accompanied by Resident Naturalist, as well as horseback and camel ride and night game drives.  All meals and overnight at Jambo Mutara Camp/ Sweetwaters Camp.

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for flight to Masai Mara, met on arrival by the camp vehicle and transfer to the camp. Afternoon game drive.  Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya- Africa. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland. The Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest’s migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 birds species recorded on the reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino).

Full day spend in Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. There is an excellent chance of seeing the Big 5, cheetah, serval cat, hyena, bat-eared foxes, black-backed and side-striped jackals, hippo, crocodile, baboons, warthog, topi, eland, Thompson’s gazelle, Grant’s gazelle, impala, waterbuck, oribi, reed-buck, zebra.

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for flight to Nairobi, meet on arrival and transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for flight home.
